Description
To plan, organize and direct the activities of the Planning Department; provide technical and administrative support to the City Council, Planning Commission, Assistant City Manager of Community Development and City Manager on land use issues.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Administrative direction is provided by the Assistant City Manager of Community Development and City Manager.

Exercises direct and indirect supervision over professional, technical and clerical staff.
Requirements
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Ten years of increasingly responsible experience in urban planning, community development or a closely related field, including three years of considerable supervisory responsibilities in the planning field.

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning, public administration, or a closely related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
