Union City Police Receive State Grant to Increase Traffic Safety

Police in Union City are getting help from California’s Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to help bring the number of traffic fatalities down.

Bay City News reports that the Union City Police Department has received a $50,000 grant from OTC. The money will help fund efforts to reduce drunk driving and cell phone use behind the wheel, raise awareness about traffic safety, and provide education and outreach efforts.

The program runs through September 31, 2021, with OTS funding obtained through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
