Cannabis Companies Sue L.A. Over Expired Permits

Three L.A. cannabis businesses that lost their business permits on Jan. 1 have filed a lawsuit in an effort to have their permits reinstated.

The plaintiffs — Paradise Factory, the Van Nuys Group, and Caliva Cadinh1 — are among 57 businesses whose permits expired at the start of the year.

The plaintiffs claim they were not given proper notice by L.A.’s Department of Cannabis Regulation (DCR) before the permits expired and that the agency “committed a prejudicial abuse of discretion” by failing to offer a process for appeal.
