Yreka Welcomes New Top Administrator

Jason Ledbetter, who previously served as executive director of corporate services for Siskiyou County, is the new city manager of Yreka. Ledbetter took office on January 11.

Ledbetter told the Siskiyou Daily News that he was “ecstatic” about the job.

“He’s a creative thinker, he thinks outside the box and wants to make Yreka a better place to live,” Mayor Duane Kegg said.

Ledbetter grew up in the Napa Valley area, where he once worked as a winemaker. He earned his bachelor’s degree from UC Davis and a masters from UC Riverside.

Ledbetter cited infrastructure improvement, economic development, and homelessness as his top priorities. He’s been reaching out to residents and businesses to get their input.

Ledbetter replaces Stephen Baker, who retired in June after more than 11 years with the city.
