James Lewis Returns to Atascadero to Serve as City Manager
The Atascadero City Council appointed James R. Lewis as the city’s next top administrator Tuesday. He’ll take over on July 1.
Lewis is replacing Rachelle Rickard, who is retiring after a decade as city manager and 26 years with the city.
Lewis was once a familiar face at Atascadero City Hall. He spent eight years as the city’s assistant manager and economic development director. He left in 2013.
For the past ten years, Lewis has managed the City of Pismo Beach. He currently serves on the League of California Cities Board of Directors and the California City Management Foundation Board of Trustees. He has nearly three decades of experience in local government.
“Jim brings a proven track record in local government success and is a knowledgeable, approachable, dynamic leader that will work for our community,” said Mayor Heather Moreno. “Mr. Lewis is recognized in our region and throughout the state as a leader. These strengths will allow us to continue delivering on the positive trajectory Atascadero businesses and residents are so excited about.”
