Proper work-life balance is a difficult needle to thread for anyone. It becomes even harder once you have kids. A family-friendly culture, plus plenty of childcare options, can ease some of the burden. But which cities are more likely to offer those benefits?
CoworkingCafe just answered that question with its publication of America’s Best Cities for Working Parents. The researchers only considered cities with populations of 200,000 and above.
Each city received a score out of 100. Education factors, including childcare affordability and public school rankings, comprised 40% of the index. Work factors, like share of remote-eligible jobs, was also worth 40%. 20% of the score came from health and environment factors, including air quality, green spaces, and availability of pediatricians.

San Francisco scored high because of the frequency of remote work and one of the highest rates of pediatricians per capita. Fremont has the highest percentage of remote workers at 23% along with lower childcare costs. Irvine has the highest number of workers in remote work-eligible jobs.
