Job Description
The Sunrise Recreation and Park District is a dependent special district of Sacramento County, located in the northeast section of the County, servicing the residential population in Citrus Heights, Antelope, and Foothill Farms. The area offers warm temperatures with several sunny days, allowing for many activities including hiking, fishing, golfing, picnics, and more. The District has a mission to be responsive to the communities’ needs for an enhanced quality of life, and to advocate for positive social interactions.
The District is seeking a forward facing, approachable, and innovative leader to serve as the next District Administrator. The ideal candidate is responsive with a customer service focus, with the ability to develop and mentor staff. Knowledge of principles and practices of effective management, supervision, employee development, and performance management are essential. The incoming District Administrator should have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and interpret and apply all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in public recreation, planning, and administration or a closely related field, as well as five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the development implementation and administration of public recreation services and programs, including two (2) years in a management or supervisory position. Additional supervisory experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. A Master’s degree in recreation administration, public administration, or parks and recreation, may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
The salary range for the District Administrator is $159,677.40 to $194,088.88. Placement within this range is dependent on experience and qualifications.
