In addition, Fullerton is also home to a major hospital, St. Jude’s Medical Center, which provides world class medical care as well as being one of the city’s major employers and community contributors.
The Fullerton City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated public service professional that is a secure leader, highly competent, energetic, and resilient. The candidate must be able to a build well-functioning executive level team that insists upon pursuing projects and services that provide substantial public benefit. The selected candidate must be innovative and willing to roll up his/her sleeves to ensure tasks are completed. The City Manager must have a wide range of expertise. Finances must be structurally balanced, particularly in regard to identifying new revenue sources; public safety must be maintained at adequate staffing levels while identifying more efficient ways to provide positive and productive services to the community; HR/IT/Purchasing systems must be revamped, modernized, and in compliance with rules and regulations; organizational structures must be evaluated and improved; public infrastructure projects must be initiated and brought to completion; parks and recreation facilities must be right-sized for the available budget and to ensure that what remains is well maintained; economic activities must be pursued while ensuring that municipal codes are respected; and positive and productive relationships must be maintained with the City Council, business owners, and residents.
The ideal candidate for this position must have prior experience as a City Manager, Deputy/Assistant City Manager, or as an Executive Director of a complex public sector organization. A BA/BS in a related field is essential and a Master’s Degree in a relevant field is highly desired.
