The County Counsel’s Office is a department of the County of Placer and allocated 16 attorney and 9 administrative staff positions. It is led by the County Counsel, an attorney, who is a direct appointment of the Board of Supervisors. The County Counsel Deputies assist the County Counsel to implement the goals, strategies and programs of the Board of Supervisors and represent the County in civil and administrative matters. Each Deputy is assigned a wide range of assignments, cases and projects and given the opportunity to learn different areas of public sector law. The County Counsel’s Office provides a collegial atmosphere and career growth opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications and Salary:

Deputy County Counsel II: Candidates must be an active member in good standing with the California State Bar. Must have at least one year of legal experience in California working in either the private or public sector. Experience practicing in the following areas of law is preferred: contracts, public bids, construction, land use, water, environmental. Knowledge of the Brown Act and Public Records Act a plus.

Annual Salary: $104,977.60 - $131,102.40

Deputy County Counsel III: Candidates must be an active member in good standing with the California State Bar. Must have a minimum 2 years legal experience in California working in either the private or public sector. Experience practicing in the following areas of law is preferred: tax, public finance, real property transactions, contracts, housing. Knowledge of the Brown Act and Public Records Act is a must.

Annual Salary: $116,001.60 - $144,892.80
