The City of Los Altos is seeking a progressive planning professional who has the ability to innovate and bring new ideas to the Development Services Department. The Development Services Director will be a service-minded individual with a nuanced understanding of community interests and concerns. The Development Services Director will possess superb written and verbal communication skills and an inclusive leadership style. It is expected that the Development Services Director will have knowledge of operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive Development Services Department. This includes both planning, building and safety, and code enforcement. The selected candidate will have a deep background in development and demonstrated experience working with general plans.  The selected candidate will also have a track record of successfully supervising employees and will stay abreast of current best practices in management. The Development Services Director will bring seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in a comparable setting. A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory/management and administrative experience is desirable. A combination of public and private sector experience as well as current or previous experience serving a highly engaged community will be considered favorably. The annual salary range for the Development Services Director is $181,825 - $221,008; placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications.
