The General Law city is seeking a visionary, progressive, competent, and practical individual to serve as the new Fire Chief. The Fire Chief oversees and directs all activities of the Fire Department for the City and surrounding areas in mutual aid circumstances. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills and will motivate personnel while leading by example with consistency, respect, and open communication. A generalist with experience in operations, personnel, budgeting, public relations, fire prevention, and EMS is desired. The typical qualifying background includes four (4) years of college in firefighting science or a related area and increasingly responsible firefighting work, preferably at the level of battalion chief. The annual salary range for the Fire Chief is $136,422 - $185,603; placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
