Escondido Fire Department is supported by a staff of 123.5 FTEs (including Chief Officers) and an annual operating budget of $30 million, providing fire, rescue, emergency planning, fire prevention and EMS services to a population of 165,268 within an approximate 50 square mile area.
Escondido seeks a fire management professional with strong operational experience accompanied by administrative depth. They must also be a tactful leader, and trusted member of the City Manager’s senior leadership team, whose leadership style reflects a contemporary understanding and approach to the evolving nature of fire service. Requires Bachelor’s degree, California CFO certification, and ten years of increasingly responsible experience in an agency providing full range of urban fire protection services, including three years of management and administrative responsibility at Deputy Chief level (or equivalent) or above. Master’s degree and/or NFA EFO certification desirable.
