Named one of the ten safest Cities in America and one of the most livable cities in the country, the City of Santa Clara (pop. 129,488) lies at the center of Silicon Valley, 45 miles south of San Francisco.  The Community Development Department is organized across three divisions: Planning, Building, and Housing and Community Services. The Housing and Community Services Manager will oversee a FY21-22 budget of $7 million and be supported by nine (9) full-time employees.

The ideal candidate will be an innovative and team-oriented leader with a passion for addressing complex urban housing challenges. A strong policy background and knowledge of California’s housing laws and federal regulations and programs will be expected. This manager will also be an outstanding verbal and written communicator and excellent presenter. Five years of relevant administrative or supervisory experience in affordable housing and a Bachelor’s degree are required. A Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of experience.
