The City of Fowler, a small quality, full service city (pop. 7,021) with an acclaimed school district located in the Fresno metropolitan area of Central California, is seeking a Police Lieutenant to supervise, coordinate, and operate and maintain functions of the Police Department. This position works under the direction of the Chief of Police. 
Under direction of the Chief of Police, performs administrative support duties, and is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily operations and activities of the Police Department.  Incumbents manage subordinate department supervisors, officers, and departmental personnel. Employees in this class supervise and evaluate the performance of personnel under charge.  Incumbents use judgment and acquired knowledge in interpreting state laws, local ordinances, and departmental regulations, as well as appraising the effectiveness of enforcement.  Position is responsible for assisting in budget development and implementation.  May perform duties of Chief of Police in his/her absence. 

Graduated from an accredited college or university with an appropriate major is desired. 
Ten years of experience in law enforcement with a city police or county sheriff’s department, including at least one year in a class equivalent to the level of Sergeant. 
Possession of an Intermediate Certificate and a Supervisory Certificate issued by the State Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
