The Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (SAFCA) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Principal Engineer who is committed to building a long-lasting and successful career with our organization. The Principal Engineer (Engineer) will have a strong sense of personal and professional development. This role will collaborate with one other Principal Engineer and serve to oversee both an Associate Engineer and external consultant teams as they carry out projects.
SAFCA is looking for an Engineer with strong knowledge of flood risk reduction, flood management, and ecosystem restoration projects, ideally at the federal level. The successful candidate will be an exceptional project manager who is comfortable working on a deadline and estimating costs while operating independently. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal Principal Engineer will be a self-led and technically skilled engineer. They will have the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, government agencies, and outside organizations. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter who identifies opportunities for improvement, takes initiative, and aspires to produce exceptional results.
While SAFCA does not complete design work internally, the Principal Engineer will have foundational civil engineering design experience to properly assess the work of outside agencies. They will use their strong understanding of regulatory permitting to evaluate plans for compliance and drive projects toward completion.
