Job Description
The City of Ventura Water Department is looking for two Wastewater Collection Utility Worker I/II/III to join the team. We are looking for candidates who have a desire to continue to grow or further their career in wastewater. If you are seeking an opportunity to grow into a long-term career in water distribution or water treatment, we offer training and advancement opportunities in a complex, D5 water system environment.
The Wastewater Collection Utility Worker I/II/III works under supervision performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled heavy manual work, alone or as a member of a crew, in the construction, maintenance and repair and related service activities for wastewater collection systems and sewer lines.
Positions in the Wastewater Collection Utility Worker I/II/III series are flexibly staffed with advancement through certified levels after passing the CWEA exam for the requisite Grade 2 or Grade 3 Wastewater Collection System Maintenance certification and demonstrated proficiency performing the full range of duties for the next position.
The Wastewater Collection Utility Worker I is the journey level class with advancement to the certified level after meeting the wastewater collection system experience requirements and passing the California Water Environmental Association (CWEA) exam for a Grade 1 Wastewater Collection System Maintenance certification. The Wastewater Collection Utility Worker II & III are the full journey level classes where employees work with greater independence performing full range skilled maintenance tasks and making operational decisions in the absence of the lead worker.

The City offers a total compensation package that includes both a generous salary plus excellent benefit! Salary: $25.78 - $35.68 Hourly DOQ.
